Competing Businesses

Marty Cohen had been running his haberdashery for forty years and was somewhat dismayed when another opened up right next door and had a big sign above saying "Best Deals In Town".

Business began to suffer and then Mr. Cohen is further distressed when another shop opens on the other side. This one erects a huge neon sign flashing "Lowest Prices or double your money back!".

After several weeks he's hardly doing any trade, and even old long established customers have moved on. He decides to close the business and retire before he loses everything. Mr. Cohen goes to his accountant and tells him everything.

"But Marty," begins his accountant, "that's wonderful news."

"What the heck?" says, Mr. Cohen, "are you mad, they are ruining me. To my left is a shop undercutting me with 'best deals' to my right is another saying 'best prices' how can this be wonderful news?"

"What you need to do is this", says the accountant, "just go back to your store and put up your own sign saying 'Main Entrance'."
